In just a few weeks my transition to a meatless diet to support Pelotonia’s Cancer Research begins. Every donation increases the length of time I go vegetarian and more importantly supports Pelotonia’s One Goal of Curing Cancer. I could really use your support: mypelotonia.org/profile/TM0186
Now, as promised here is the recipe for my delicious air fryer chicken wings that are just as good as their deep fried counterpart.
Active time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 30 minute
Total time: 1 hour 40 minutes
Ingredients
1 dozen chicken wings (about 2 pounds)
1 cup flour
1.5 tbsp kosher salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
canola oil spray (or similar spray oil)
2 tbsp butter
1/3 cup Frank’s Redhot (or your sauce of choice)
Directions
- Lightly dry chicken wings with paper towels.
- On a pan or plate Mix together Flour, Salt and Pepper
- Place chicken wings in the seasoned flour mixture and lightly press them into the flour as you roll them around until full coated.
- Move the pan/plate of coated wing to the refrigerator for 1 hour
- Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees and set timer for 30 minutes (if your air fryer max is 375 degrees add about 5 minutes to total cook time)
- Place wings in air fryer basket making sure to leave room between the wings for air to circulate. If they don’t all fit place the remaining wings back in the refrigerator and give them their turn after the first batch is done.
- Spray the tops of the wings with canola oil and then place the basket with wings in the preheated air fryer
- Once the tops look brown and crispy (about 20 minutes) remove them from the air fryer, flip each wing then place them back in the air fryer
- While the wings are finishing place butter and Frank’s RedHot in a bowl.
- When wings look deliciously brown and crispy (about 10 minutes) take them out and dump them in the bowl of sauce. If your bowl has a lid put it on top and shake to coat. If you don’t have a lid just toss/stir the wings around until coated.
For my family I usually make two sauces and split the wings between them. One with Frank’s for classic buffalo and the other with BBQ for the kids. Enjoy!
